Warm Up for Academic Success

Welcome back to college.  Did you know that there is a special place on campus where all students can come for help on writing papers, study tips, math help and one on one time with tutors who have excelled in their class work?

The peer tutors are a very special group of students who are both current and past students of F-MCC who are willing to share their knowledge with you.  Just think, someone who has been there before you, knows the professor and their expectations and has experience in the topic you need to know about. Peer tutors take advantage of the breaks in their schedule to offer their experience to other students who may need a little help or just a push in the right direction.

How do I access these wonderful services?  Well this is easier than taking candy from a baby,  just come to the Learning Center.  Writing and Math help is available to any student who needs it.  Just come on in, check the schedule to see who is available to help you.  Not sure what you need?  Visit the reception area in the middle of the Learning Center.  Mrs. Kruger or one of our student aids will be glad to help you get the services you need.  Tutor schedules are posted at the reception area.  Tutor mailboxes are also located in the reception area.  If you want to get some tutoring help but can't make the times the tutor is scheduled, you can leave a note in his or her mailbox and make arrangements to meet.

How do I become a tutor?
Great question!  Stop by and see one of the coordinators at the Learning Center.  If you are interested in tutoring for a specific area you will need to have a  B or better average in that class and a recommendation from your professor.  Potential tutors will need to meet with a coordinator in his or her area of study before beginning   to tutor.  Tutors schedule their own hours. Amount of hours is based on student need.
